Privacy policy

Scope

This policy explains how Ecliptica: Birth Charts, published by SEM LLC, handles information. It covers the iPhone app and the Ecliptica pages on superextramega.com.

Information we collect

SEM LLC does not collect personal data through the app. Ecliptica has no app account, analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking SDKs.

SEM LLC does not operate an app backend that receives birth details, charts, interpretations, comparison results, journal entries, or usage history.

Information stored on your device

Birth details you enter, including names, dates, times, and birthplaces, the charts computed from them, birth-time accuracy, journal entries, lesson progress, app settings, notification choices, rating-prompt eligibility history, and a 30-day history of recently displayed reading themes and wording remain on your iPhone in protected local storage. The reading history reduces repetition and can be reset in Settings.

Charts you store for other people require their birth details. The app asks you to confirm that you have their permission, and that information also stays on the device.

Optional profile backups contain charts only, not journal entries, lesson progress, or reading history. They are encrypted with a passphrase you choose before export. SEM LLC never receives the backup or passphrase. PDF reports contain exact birth details and are shared only where you send them. Reading share cards contain a theme and reflection prompt, with no name, birth details, coordinates, or profile identifier. Journal exports contain the dates, prompts, and words you wrote in readable text. Review exports before choosing a destination.

Delete profiles individually or together in Settings. Journal entries are independent of profiles and can be deleted in the journal, while Settings includes separate controls for journal and lesson progress, and for reading history. Removing the app removes its local data. Copies you shared or backed up must be deleted at their destination. Apple device backups follow your Apple and device settings and may include local Ecliptica data.

Network activity

Ecliptica performs its calculations with a bundled, on-device astronomy engine. The app makes no network connections of its own:

• Chart calculation, transits, chart comparisons, and interpretations run on the device.
• The built-in birthplace catalog is bundled with the app; no location lookup service is contacted.
• Optional personal and connection notifications are computed and scheduled locally.

Apple's App Store and StoreKit infrastructure handles purchases and restoration under Apple's privacy practices. Opening a website, sending a support email, sharing a file, or using device backup may involve a network connection to the destination you choose.

Permissions

Notifications. If you turn on an optional forecast update or evening reflection reminder, iOS asks for notification permission. Content is computed on the device and contains no profile names or birth details. You can select a bundled sound, disable sound, or turn each update type off independently. If you decline permission, the rest of the app is unaffected.

Ecliptica does not request location, contacts, camera, microphone, or photo access.

Purchases

Apple manages the optional one-time Ecliptica Core Unlock, previously called Ecliptica Complete, through the App Store. SEM LLC does not receive your payment-card data. Apple may provide purchase status and transaction information needed to unlock and restore the purchase, subject to Apple's privacy practices. This version has no subscriptions.

Website visits

When you visit superextramega.com, the hosting infrastructure processes routine request data such as your IP address, browser user-agent, requested page, and timestamp to deliver and secure the website.

The Ecliptica pages use privacy-preserving, first-party audience measurement to understand visits. Aggregate records can include the requested page, time, a quarterly rotating salted visitor identifier, approximate city, region, country, network provider, and approved campaign labels. Raw IP addresses and full browser user-agent strings do not enter the analytics database. Aggregate analytics records are retained for up to 365 days.

A short-lived first-party sem_visit cookie can connect page journeys and estimate active time within a browsing session. It contains an opaque random value, expires within 12 hours, and starts a new measurement session after 30 minutes of inactivity. Detailed session records are retained for up to 90 days. Browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals disable this detailed measurement.

This website measurement is not linked to activity in Ecliptica. The pages use no advertising or cross-site tracking. They may store your light or dark theme preference in your browser. See the website privacy policy for fuller details.

Children

Ecliptica is not directed to children under 13, and SEM LLC does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app.

Policy changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above. Material changes will apply from the date the revised policy is published.
