Privacy policy

Ecliptica: Birth Charts (“the app”) is developed by SEM LLC (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information. In short: the app does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. Everything the app stores stays on your device.

Information we collect

None. The app has no account system, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking SDKs. We do not operate a server that receives your data, and we do not sell or share information with anyone.

Information stored on your device

The app stores the following locally on your iPhone so it can function:

  • Birth profiles - the names or labels, dates, times, birthplaces, and coordinates you choose to save.
  • Charts and chart work - calculated natal charts, placements, aspects, transit work, synastry comparisons, and readings.
  • App settings - preferences used to display and calculate charts the way you choose.
  • Encrypted backups - if you create a backup, Ecliptica encrypts it with the passphrase you choose before you export it. We do not receive the backup or your passphrase and cannot recover a forgotten passphrase.

This data does not leave your device unless you explicitly export an encrypted backup. You can remove it by deleting saved profiles and backups or by deleting the app.

Network activity

The app makes no network connections of its own. Charts, transits, synastry, the ephemeris, and the birthplace catalog are all on-device.

The only network activity is Apple's StoreKit service for the optional one-time purchase. The app does not contact SEM LLC or any analytics or advertising service.

Permissions

  • Location - the app does not use your current device location. You choose a birthplace from the bundled catalog, and its saved coordinates are used for calculations on your iPhone.
  • Files - when you export or restore an encrypted backup, iOS presents its system file picker. Ecliptica accesses only the backup file you choose.

Purchases

The optional one-time unlock is sold and managed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment information; Apple's payment and privacy terms apply. Purchase status is provided to the app by Apple's StoreKit and is not shared with us.

Children

The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Policy changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date above and post the revised version at this URL.
